Welcome to our Church! Though small in numbers, we are alive and growing and seeking to follow Jesus by serving our East Knoxville community of Parkridge!
Do not be awed or intimidated by the size of our building: It does not define who we are! We are a church blessed with a rich heritage.

Though we historically were a large church, in the early-to-mid 1900's, reaching a high of 2500 members by 1942, we can no longer be identified by the size of the building in which we meet. Running in the 70's in resident membership and in the 30's-40's in attendance, we have much more in common with our neighbors who do not have such a huge meeting place.
To be good stewards of this resource, we share our facility with a number of partners in ministry who find portions of the facility usable for their needs. Our current partners include THRIVE Parkridge, Rehoboth African Family Ministries, and Signs and Wonders Apostolic Ministries. Past partners include Hope Fellowship and Overcoming Believers Church.

The demographics of East Knoxville have changed dramatically over the past 50 years. This ever-evolving cultural and racial diversity mandates not only openness to change in methodology, but an actual God-driven quest to apply timeless truth in culturally relevant ways and words. In 1914, Mr. Herman Wilhite and Mr. T.A. Blanc shared a common vision for the families that lived in "Park City," and took bold steps to make their vision a reality. In the same way, we must take bold steps to reach the families who live in the "Park City" of our day!

Jesus commanded his disciples to go and teach all peoples about a God who loved them and gave Himself for them. His command still calls Fifth Avenue Baptist Church to obedience and action. Empowered by the presence of the Holy Spirit, we continue to obey our Lord Jesus Christ. On June 11, 2017, we celebrated 100 years of serving together as a church family. We welcome you to join heart and hands with us as we carry on into another century the work of building the Kingdom of God here in East Knoxville.
